About the Role:

As Director, of Communications, you will be responsible for assisting in the formulation and management of a business-wide reputation management strategy that safeguards the organization’s integrity and image. You will assist with the formulation of business-wide internal and external communication and engagement strategies, develop and sustain relationships with key advocates for the business, and leverage influence for the benefit of the organization. While supporting the organization’s chief spokesperson, you will also represent the organization and its partnerships. You will be responsible for developing platforms for critical stakeholder engagement/corporate communication and information dissemination.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the communications function, including media relations, internal communications, crisis communications, and public relations.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with the organization’s values and priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts, stakeholders, and partners to leverage influence and promote the organization’s objectives.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, ensuring consistency in messaging across all communication channels.
  • Develop and implement crisis communications plans, including media responses and messaging, in partnership with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Manage the organization’s digital presence, including social media, website content, and other digital communications channels.
  • Develop and manage the communications budget and allocate resources effectively to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members in the communications function to support their growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the education or non-profit sector.
  • Experience in business media, communications planning, communications strategy, corporate communications, crisis communications, external communications, internal & external communications, media strategy, spokesperson, and strategic communications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the education sector and a passion for improving educational outcomes for children in low-income communities.
