Are you passionate about global development and eager to gain practical experience in finance and administration? United Nations is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated Finance & Admin Intern to join our team. As an intern, you’ll have the chance to contribute to sustainable human settlements development while enhancing your skills and knowledge in finance and budget management. This internship is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and offers a unique opportunity to work with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in advancing our mission of achieving adequate shelter for all.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the SDG Localization and Local Governments Unit with administrative, finance, and budget-related tasks.
  • Assist in the closure of prior year audit recommendations and coordination of corrective actions related to budget performance reports.
  • Review grants and liaise with project management officers to ensure compliance with financial procedures.
  • Coordinate with finance staff to troubleshoot and respond to inquiries on financial matters.
  • Prepare financial reports for management and donors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide administrative support, including drafting official documents and maintaining filing systems.
  • Assist in logistical support for meetings and conferences.

Qualifications/special skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program, or recent graduate (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D.) in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its ideals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in oral and written English; knowledge of French or other UN languages is desirable.
